In about 7 weeks, on the night of 31 October, some 8 weeks before Christmas, is the spookiest night of the year. There are many legends swirling around the festival but it is comes from the Christian festival of “All Saints” or “All Hallows” which was the day that all people who had died the previous year ascended to heaven.
But the Ghoulies and Ghosties and other demons came out the night before to catch the un-cleansed souls and drag them down to hell and thus it became traditional to regards “All Hallows Eve” or Halloween as it is now known, as a night to be put up wards against the evils and extend charity to one’s neighbors and visitors.
